Jingle all the way with Janod

Us Brits often look to the other side of the Channel when it comes to inspiration for style and high fashion. Our French friends have a certain je ne sais quoi when it comes to making things look not just good, but absolutely fabulous! This week in the WoodenToyShop office we are celebrating the wonderful range of wooden toys produced by Janod.

Formed in eastern France over 40 years ago, this clever company’s toys are distributed in over 34 countries around the world. With nature and ecology very much at the heart of this company, it is no surprise that the focus is on creating imaginative, enjoyable and educational wooden toys. The Maxi Cooker is a top of the range play kitchen which is also available in pink. The Maxi Cooker is popular with parents who appreciate its stylish colouring and design. The cooker has a double hob (with control buttons), a sink with mixer tap, gold polka dot splash back, kitchen clock and plenty of shelf space for your pretend kitchen accessories. The split level oven is ‘controlled’ by four different buttons and a set of useful utensils comes with this gorgeous toy kitchen.

The DIY Trolley is a winning combination of baby/toddler walker, toy toolbox and workbench. Predominantly decorated in shiny silver, with vibrant red and orange trim, this moveable workbench is very popular with kids. It comes laden with tools, nuts and bolts and has a vice for more complex projects!

Janod’s two portable shops, the Bakery and Market Stall, mirror the delightful design of the Maxi Kitchen. The Bakery has two layers of shelving and is packed with play bread, cakes and pastries that will wow any passing shopper. Two golden cake boxes are also supplied, along with a box of chalks which can be used to mark up prices on the rear chalk board. The Market Stall follows a similar design, but comes with wooden crates, toy fruit and vegetables.

One of the most popular toys in our Janod range is the ABC Buggy. This is an extremely colourful traditional baby walker which is filled with wooden blocks decorated with letters and numbers. The front of the buggy is fitted with an abacus, so when your little ones have tired of pushing it around, they can plonk themselves down and start counting. Suitable for children aged around 12 months, this is one of the most beautiful toys in our store.

Children who enjoy musical toys will adore the Janod Confetti range. This collection of wooden musical instruments features a beautiful and instantly recognisable multi-coloured polka dot design. The Confetti Drum will remind many grownups of happy hours during childhood when they pulled the strap of their toy drum over their heads and then marched along beating out a rhythm with their drumsticks. Until Mum or Dad had had enough. The Confetti Guitar is very rock and roll too!

The final highlight of our Janod toys collection is the Bird House Sorter. Suitable for children aged around 18 months, this very beautiful toy is a popular first birthday present. This is a brilliant example of how this wonderful toymaker creates toys that are attractive to look at, well-made and sturdy, imaginative and educational.
