Earlier this week we introduced a number of wonderful wooden toys that we have added to the WoodenToyShop selection from French toymakers extraordinaire, Janod. We offered a glimpse of some of the toys are now safely on our warehouse shelves, so here are our thoughts on the rest of the new arrivals.
First up we have the Janod ABC Buggy. This is a very vibrant and exceptionally cute baby walker that is full of colourful wooden blocks which have been decorated with letters and numbers to help little ones start to learn even as they enjoy building and demolishing teetering towers of blocks! The front of the buggy has been fitted with an abacus which provides even more educational entertainment for a curious baby.

If you and your children enjoy starting each day with a hearty breakfast then why not try the Janod Breakfast Set? This gorgeous wooden play food set comprises a white tray with brown polka dots, matching tea pot, tea cups and saucers, wooden cutlery, butter dish, pain au chocolat and croissant. Kids love having a tea party, pretending to pour their own tea and butter their pastries. This very special breakfast set from Janod might just be your children’s cup of tea!

If breakfast isn’t your thing then how about making a mid-morning snack or full blown lunch with the Janod Sandwich Box? This extremely smart box (green with red gingham anyone?) contains lots of scrummy ingredients which can be used to make a sandwich or a salad, either or both of which can be accompanied with a bottle of water and biscuits for afters. We love the salad tray and sandwich wrap which also come with this set and while we’re aware this is really all about fun, this lovely wooden toy will give the grownups a chance to teach the kids about healthy eating. We have already introduced the fantastic Janod Portable Bakery, but we haven’t yet told you about its companion, the equally to-die-for Janod Portable Market Stall.

The market stall comes with a useful carry handle and working awning which rolls right down to act as shutters when it’s time to close. The stall has two levels: the bottom level is split into six compartments for displaying some of the wooden fruit and vegetables that comes as part of the set. The upper level has more display space and plenty of room for the wooden crate that can be filled with goodies by your junior stallholder. The back of the stall has a lovely polka dot design and a large chalkboard for writing up prices and opening and closing times. Three small chalkboards are also provided for pricing the fruit in the lower compartments. A total of twenty three accessories are supplied with this magnificent play shop.
Of course, shopkeepers and market traders need a cash till and weighing scales to trade efficiently, so may we suggest adding the Janod Chic Greengrocer Set to your play shop? This smashing wooden toy set consists of wooden play scales with a set of weights and some play fruit and some coloured chalk, all of which sits alongside a wooden cash register with buttons, till drawer and some basic gold coins for pretend transactions. What a fabulous addition to any toy shop or market stall!
