We're always delighted when we sell wooden toys that encourage children to use their imagination and to play creatively. Our recent surge in sales of easels for children has been especially pleasing and with the thought of lots of very young artists playing with toys supplied by WoodenToyShop we have drawn up a list of our favourite artistic and creative wooden toys.
- 1. Wooden Easels: we have recently written about the John Crane Tidlo Double Sided Easel, but we also stock two other free standing children’s easels as well as table top easels. All of these magnificent toys help children to begin to express themselves with paint, pens, chalk or pencils. Oh, and potatoes!
- 2. Musical Instruments: we sell drums, guitars, percussion instruments and xylophones, all of which stimulate musical appreciation as well as make a lot of noise! The I’m Toy Melody Mix features 10 (!) separate instruments, all of which can be removed from the base for use by lots of little musicians at the same time. Imagine that!
- 3. Bead Sets: crafting is as popular with children as it is with adults and bead sets may be the most popular craft sets of all. We sell all sorts of fun bead sets and after an argument or two we’ve settled upon the Melissa and Doug Gleeful Garden Beat Set as our current favourite. This fabulous set contains everything an imaginative child needs to create a beautiful necklace or bracelet and also helps children improve their hand/eye coordination and concentration.
- 4. Stamp Sets: bedroom walls across the country are covered in collages, drawings, paintings and paper inked with stamps of all shapes and sizes. Little boys will love our Dinosaur Stamp set which contains eight stamps depicting authentic dinosaurs and a fiery volcano, an ink pad with two colours of ink and five coloured pencils.
- 5. Decoration Sets: we have chosen a lovely range of Melissa and Doug Decorate Your Own sets which will appeal to children who love nothing more than sitting at the table with an old newspaper spread out for afternoon of painting and decorating! Many of our sets have stickers, paints and glitter pens for covering cars, treasure chests, piggy banks and jewellery boxes. There is even a tiara which can be decorated to your little princess’s specifications.
- 6. Quadrilla Marble Runs: maybe not an obvious choice, but Quadrilla’s utterly brilliant marble runs give children the chance to create imaginative structures using wooden frames, marbles and all sorts of clever accessories. We can’t decide if the marble runs will be responsible for tomorrow’s engineers or artists. Maybe both?
- 7. Puppet Theatres: learning to tell stories is an essential component of every child’s education. Puppet theatres help children develop communication skills and challenge them to invent and tell stories to captivate brothers, sisters, friends and parents. The Pintoy Puppet Theatre is one of our favourites, although Sweep is not included!
