Swing into Spring!

As we look out the window, the grass is growing, the daffodils are in full bloom and we can see the leaves beginning to appear on the trees. It’s getting warmer, the clocks have moved on and as we move into April and the kids start to become more active outdoors it’s a great time of year to start thinking about outdoor toys.

If you’re lucky enough to have a garden, you’ll know full well that for your children it becomes an extra playroom from about now until the end of October. Hurray! I hear Mums and Dads cheer, as the house is probably becoming particularly weary of little ones charging around, bashing the furniture with their ride on toys and generally making a bit of a mess.

If your kids are young then last year’s outdoor toys will almost certainly be yesterday’s news and they will be yearning for something to stretch them a little more, both physically and mentally. Well, mostly physically as from about 3, little ones seem to have endless energy!

Once kids pass the 3 year threshold, the number of toys available to them becomes much larger, as their bodies have developed and strengthened and they can be let loose on the more physical toys such as wooden swings and play centres.

Wooden swings are an excellent way for kids to burn off energy and also to learn about balance and generally have a really good time. There’s many an occasion when I bet you’ve been pushing your child on their swing and you’ve yearned to have an adult version to play with! We sell a wide range of (children’s) swings from around the £100 mark which are easy to set up and will become firm favourites in no time. Swing sets offer fantastic value for money as they withstand the test of time in terms of their attraction and durability.

Wooden play centres are a relatively new concept for the gardens. In the past, they were strictly for playgrounds but these days they have become much more affordable. Let’s be honest, kids lucky enough to have some of the ones we sell on WoodenToyShop.co.uk do not know they are born!

Take the Plum Products Suricate Play Centre as an example (the Suricate is actually a member of the meerkat family - simples).  This is a magnificent example – if you can fit one of these in your garden then I think you’ll be the most popular parents in your neighbourhood. It features 2 normal swings, a trapeze swing, a rock wall, a wave slide, a fireman’s pole and if that wasn’t enough there’s also a sandpit. It’s like having an adventure playground in your back garden. This truly is one of the ultimate garden toys and at just over £650 delivered this is an investment that will reap rewards time after time as it gives children years of fun in their favourite summer playroom, the garden.
