Pushmi-pullyu – Ten Push and Pull Along Toys from WoodenToyShop

Bigjigs Build Up Train

The sight of a young baby or toddler crawling on the floor pushing his or her favourite toy along is familiar to us all. Most of us will even remember pulling something along by a string as we wobbled around the house in our jimjams with a wet Farley’s rusk crumbling through our fingers and onto the carpet. If you have a little one that would love something  bright, colourful and fun to play with this Christmas, we recommend one of the following wooden push and pull along toys.

Plan Toys Push Along Frog Unfortunately we no longer stock this item.

The Plan Toys Push Along Frog is an amiable amphibian who sits on wheels at the end of a long handle. As he is pushed along he makes a pleasing clacking noise when he opens and closes his mouth. This toy will encourage children aged around 18 months and over to stand up and try walking around and helps children with balance and coordination.

Plan Toys Dancing Alligator

Another green cracker, or should we say ‘croc-er’ is the Plan Toys Dancing Alligator, a loveable chap who looks up and smiles as he is pulled along by the string attached to the bottom of his jaw. This beautiful toy alligator ‘dances’ as he moves along and will become as faithful a companion as the family pooch!

Plan Toys Pull Along Snail Unfortunately we no longer stock this item.

Like the Dancing Alligator, the Plan Toys Pull Along Snail is a colourful pull along toy which is suitable for children aged 18 months and over. The snail shuffles along pleasingly as he is pulled around, always looking up to his young owner. One of our customer reviewers loved this toy so much she told us she had purchased the snail for at least five other relatives’ children and they all loved it!

Brio Pull Along Duck

The Brio Pull Along Duck comes from a long line of wonderful push and pull along toys, including the much missed Brio Hedgehog. The Duck is a beautiful white duck with yellow beak and wings which moves along on bright red wheels. But what is so special about this little quacker is that he flaps his wings, nods his head and quacks as he is pulled along!

Melissa and Doug Pull Along Zoo Animals Unfortunately we no longer stock this item.

If you need even more animals for your menagerie, then the Melissa and Doug Pull Zoo Animals offers three different animals for your delectation. There is a giraffe, a zebra and an elephant which all hook up together to form a train of colourful characters.

Pintoy Construction Train

Speaking of trains, the Pintoy Construction Train is a wonderful combination of pull along toy, wooden train, construction toy and shape sorter/building and stacking toy With so many different uses and such potential for fun, it’s no wonder kids love this toy train!

Plan Toys Sorting Bus Unfortunately we no longer stock this item.

If your children prefer buses to trains, or if they simply have enough trains, then why not try the Plan Toys Sorting Bus. This clever pull along wooden bus is also a shape sorter which gives you two toys for the price of one, not to mention a smiling bus driver!

Brio Pull Along Train My favourite!

When I was down in our warehouse last week reviewing our Christmas stock, I couldn’t help admiring the Brio Pull Along Engine. I’m not sure if it was the patterned wheels which look so good as the rotate, or just the overall sleek black design. Whatever it is, this is the toy I am buying for my cousin’s little boy this Christmas. I’ll be road testing it first of course!

Doctor Doolittle had his Pushmi-pullyu, WoodenToyShop has its push alongs and pull alongs. Which do you prefer?
