Our Castles are not Bouncy

Melissa and Doug Folding Medieval Castle

We make no apologies for reminding all of our wonderful WoodenToyShoppers that our toy castles do not bounce. Nor should they be dropped, prodded or jumped on! These castles are sturdy of course and robust enough to withstand the challenges of play time with toddlers, but these are very much wooden castles for playing with, not in.

Le Toy Van Excalibur Castle

Knights have featured prominently in our culture for hundreds of years, not least in English literature from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, through Chaucer’s Knight’s Tale to Thomas Malory’s Morte D’Arthur and many modern versions of classic tales of brave nights slaying dragons, rescuing fair maidens and defending the honour of the local village. Knights have traditionally embodied courage, purity, chivalry and honour, although the black knight, representing evil, often appears to challenge the good knight. For the kids though, knights represent epic adventures played out in films, on television (Mike the Knight anybody?) and in exciting story books read to them by grownups. Children have played with toy castles for hundreds of years and these magnificent wooden toys continue to be popular in a world that could not be more removed from the age of chivalry.

WoodenToyShop’s comprehensive selection of toy castles offers parents the chance to choose between traditional wooden castles, such as the bestselling Lionheart Castle, Le Toy Van’s finest castle which has seven towers (each one of which is topped with bright red turrets), a working drawbridge, portcullis and lots of other exciting features to encourage hours of imaginative and enjoyable play. If you are looking for a more ‘fairy tale’ kind of castle, then the Melissa and Doug Folding Princess Castle or the Le Toy Van Fairybelle Palace (available later on this year) both offer a home fit for the most beautiful princess. Whatever castle you choose, we’re confident your children will not only love playing with it, but they will also be encouraged to exercise their imaginations as they dream up adventures and stories to act out and even tell the grownups.
