Melissa and Doug Colouring Pad - Princess & Fairy

We recently received a Melissa & Doug Princess Fairy Jumbo Colouring Pad from The Wooden Toy Shop.

It is a big colouring pad with a lovely princess and fairy theme. Even two kids can paint it at the same time if they manage to take turn at times :) As a five year old little girl, my daughter loves princesses and fairies at the moment so she was very happy to see this drawing pad.

 Colouring

I used to think drawing pads don't encourage creativity and I have never bought a colouring pad to my children before. But recently, my daughter is really into colouring. I think it started with school since the teacher sometimes gives them colouring sheets.

Defne shows a great concentration and loves it. She is so proud that she colours in nicely, staying in the lines. She also asks me to colour in together at times. Although I did not want to, I didn't reject her which made me realize it is a very calming activity. Plus we get to chat while we are colouring in.

So my views on colouring pads have changed now. I think they are not so bad as long as children are also provided with other art supplies and are given plenty of other opportunities to foster their creativity.

The Melissa & Doug Colouring Pad is of good quality like all the other Melissa & Doug products. A mix of simple and more detailed pictures to colour in, it contains 50 pages and only one-sided as well. You can easily rip off one the pages for easy use. We tried it with felt tips, crayons and water colours. The paper is thick so even water colours were okay to use. It doesn't bleed trough or rip whilst painting.

I think we may even buy the rest of the series in the future.

Another great product that we will be recommending to our friends!
