As the weeks fly by and Christmas sprints towards us faster than Usain Bolt, we hardly know what day it is in the WoodenToyShop office. Except, of course, on Wednesdays. It just wouldn’t do to forget our weekly fun competitions, especially the last one of the year. Next week sees the beginning of Woodvent – our annual 12 competitions in 12 days marathon – but before then we have one final Wooden Wednesday competition.
This week we have been sorting through our selection play food to ensure that we have enough to support the toy kitchens and shops that have been selling like, well, hot cakes. The last blackberries are clinging on to their bushes, the chestnuts are falling and there are apples, damsons, sloes and elderberries galore in our hedgerows. The end of summer doesn’t seem too bad when there are so many tasty treats to be foraged along our country lanes. This week’s Wooden Wednesday competition combines two of our current passions: the Great British Bake Off and nature’s beauteous autumnal bounty. WoodenToyShoppers who watched the Bake Off last night may have inadvertently spotted some clues to the answers to today’s competition.
This week we are welcoming the return of an old friend. After a long summer break while we worked on our autumn and Christmas wooden toy range, we are excited to announce our latest Wooden Wednesday competition and this one has a very seasonal twist.
