All Aboard to Win a Train Set

We’re mad about wooden train sets here at WoodenToyShop. They really do have something for everyone and provide children with hours of adventure and learning. We’re particularly fond of the BigJigs rail range and one of their most popular sets is the Town and Country Train Set.

Over 100 pieces!

This cracking little train set has over 100 different pieces and as well as a wide assortment of train track, the set also includes a smart train with three carriages, a bridge, railway station and a wide variety of other accessories including cars, people and buildings. It also represents tremendous value, being just £41.95 (at time of writing) which includes delivery to your favourite train driver. You don’t have to take our word for how good this set is, you can read an in depth customer review by Michaela and Thomas Britton by clicking here.

To celebrate all things BigJigs, we’re giving away one of their Town and Country Train Sets in our latest Wooden Wednesday competition.

To enter, simply tell us why you would love to win the train set.

We’ll pick a winner at random when the comp closes at 9am on Thursday 9th May 2013.

How to enter

1. Please click the Facebook ‘like’ button at the top of this page. (Don't worry if you don't have a Facebook account. You can skip this part.)

2. Place your entry as a comment under this blog article.

In the event of a tie, a winner will be picked at random from all correct entries.

We will accept only one entry per UK household. (The prize can only be delivered to an address in the United Kingdom.)

The result will be announced on this blog shortly after entries close and the judges’ decision will be final.

Please note: each entry has to be approved before it is uploaded to this page. There may be a delay before you can see your entry.

*Competition opens Wednesday 8st May and closes at 9am on Thursday 9th May.

The wooden railway is such a timeless classic I am not sure who gets more enjoyment out of building a railway me or the kids. You can build such a different layout each time you never get bored of it also with all the funky extras like the stations, coal loging station, bridges and tunnels it allows great role play ideas.

I'd love to win it as a present for my two grandsons, something they can play with together. I love traditional toys and wooden ones are the best ever, they are very social toys that encourage interaction with others, which is very important.

My 10yr old son has a basic wooden trainset that he received as a gift for his 1st birthday which is looking tired and a little broken now as it has been played religiously by him and his 3 younger sisters. My youngest, aged 3, also has lots of fun playing with the set and is upset that some of the pieces are missing or broken. I would love to win this to give her a brand new set as a gift from her new baby sister who is due in August to help stop her feeling left out when the new baby comes and gets lots of gifts!

My four siblings and I had a train set growing up and it was our favourite toy - we would all play so well together when it was out (unusual for us!). I really want my little boy Charlie to share in the same experience and I prefer wooden train sets over anything battery powered; they are powered by imagination!

I would love to win the train set for my little boy who is 19 months old and obsessed with trains! He will sit for 10 whole minutes quietly (if you have a toddler you will understand that this is a big thing) and watch a youtube video called The Isle of Mann Steam Trains Part 1. Which for the experts out there is a 10 minute video just full of real life steam trains, no music, no commentry, just pictures of trains and the countryside they pass!

I'd love to win this for my son because he loves the wooden train set he already has but there's always a few bits missing to make that 'perfect track' it always just seems out of reach, with some extra parts then we'd be able to make that, ever elusive, perfect track (Even despite the 'help' of a troublesome three-year-old ;) )
