The WoodenToyShop Guide to Wooden Farm Toys

Le Toy Van Pippin Farm

One of the wonderful aspects of working with wooden toys is the memories it brings of your own childhood. When I was three or four, one of my absolutely favourite toys was my toy farm. Children have played with wooden farm toys for centuries and today’s children show the same enthusiasm for life of the toy farm as us, our parents and our grandparents. We have compiled the following guide to wooden farm toys to help our customers choose the perfect farm for their children.

Le Toy Van Pippin Farm (pictured above) is a deluxe toy farmyard that sits on a sturdy wooden base. The front of the farm is bordered by a sturdy fence which also encloses a duck pond (with an apple tree to one side) and a paddock in front of the cow shed. Alongside the cow shed, the farm buildings comprise extensive stables, a hayloft and a barn.

Pippin Farm is complemented by a number of Le Toy Van toys, such as the Sunny Farm Animals, the Farm Playmat, Budkins Farm Workers and the very popular My Green Tractor. The tractor has a driver and pulls a detachable trailer (it tips!) or a seed spreader. This lovely toy tractor has a very familiar livery and will remind eagle eyed children of some of the real life tractors they see from car windows or on visits to farms.

John Crane Tidlo Oldfield Farm has a beautiful farm house that sits alongside the stables and cowshed which in turn are next to the barn and hayloft. Oldfield Farm has two duck ponds, a large paddock and a pig sty. The Tidlo Farm Family would make an excellent addition to this farm, as would the Pintoy Farm Animals.

The Melissa and Doug Fold and Go Barn is a clever twist on the classic wooden farm toy. The barn opens out to reveal a barn with stalls and stables, a ladder, fencing and seven farm animals. When it is time to tidy up, all the pieces will pack inside the barn which can be folded up and carried away using the wooden handles.

Bertie’s Tractor is a perfect companion to the barnyard. Children love farmer Bertie who drives this vibrant red tractor and pulls a red trailer which may even have room for a stricken chicken or two!
