The WoodenToyShop Guide to Wooden Balance Bikes

Kiddimoto Brit Pop Scooter

The team at WoodenToyShop is passionate about many things. Wooden toys appear very high up our list, as do play and learning. And if we ever needed a reminder of the importance of exercise, then the recent triumphant Olympic and Paralympic games have shown us all what we can be capable of if we keep ourselves active. One of the key elements of play is keeping children fit and healthy and allowing them to grow and develop their limbs and muscles. Wooden balance bikes give children the opportunity to have fun while they develop several crucial life skills and also burn up their seemingly endless energy! We hope the following WoodenToyShop Guide to Wooden Balance Bikes will help customers who are planning to introduce their children to the joys of bicycle riding.

Sitting proudly at the top of our selection of wooden balance bikes is the Kiddimoto range. These award-winning first bikes are produced by a family business based in Somerset which gained the backing of two of the dragons in Dragons Den in September 2011. Like all of our balance bikes, the Kiddimoto range has been designed and built to the highest possible safety standards. They are also robust and hard wearing and incredibly stylish. It is clear that the Kiddimoto team are fans of motorcycles, as seen in the design of the superbikes and the scooters:

Kiddimoto Red Superbike This one certainly has the wow factor!

The Kiddimoto Red Superbike is a convincing rendition of the real thing, albeit a lot safer and slower and altogether more wooden! This shiny red mean machine has silver exhaust pipes, a sculptured fuel tank, pneumatic tyres and easy to grip handle bars. Children of around 2 years and upwards will enjoy their first taste of cycling on this brilliant balance bike. If you would prefer something a little less bold than red, the Kiddimoto Pink Superbike is a smashing alternative.

Kiddimoto Pink Superbike ...also available in pink.

The Kiddimoto Brit Pop Scooter (pictured at the top of this guide) will appeal to adults who enjoyed the music of Blur, Oasis and Pulp as well as the Who and the original mods. (We think Bradley Wiggins might like it too.) Children will love the scooter design which is so easy to get on and off, but most of all they will love the bold colours, rear Union Flag motif and traditional target design at the front.

Kiddimoto Pastel Dotty Kurve

Children also love Kiddimoto Kurve bikes which are suitable for children aged 3 years and over*. These pretty wooden balance bikes are perfect for teaching children the balance and steering skills necessary for when they are ready to graduate to a pedal bike. The Pastel Dotty Kurve bike has a funky dotty design on its frame, with matching pink seat and handles. The Union Jack Kurve bike features a patriotic design and, as with the other Kurve bikes, an adjustable seat (three height settings) and a steering lock which restricts turns to 30 degrees to avoid jack knifing and unnecessary falls.
